Original illustrations, thoughtfully made

Whistling Thorn Designs is an independent illustration and design studio based in Devon, creating colourful, characterful artwork inspired by nature, food, travel and a life lived between Africa and the UK.

From illustrated greetings cards and art prints to tea towels and fine bone china mugs, each design begins with my own drawings and watercolours, created in my Devon studio and brought to life on thoughtfully made products.

I love creating pieces that bring a little colour, personality and a story to everyday life. If you run an independent shop, gallery or interiors business and think my work would be a good fit, I’d love to hear from you.

A little story behind every design

My work is inspired by the places, plants, animals, food and memories that have stayed with me throughout my life, from growing up in Zimbabwe to living in Malawi and Kenya, and now making my home in Devon.

Every design starts with my own illustration, with a love of colour, detail and the unexpected at its heart. I want my work to make people smile, spark a conversation or remind them of somewhere special.

Designed in Devon, my products are made in the UK, bringing original artwork to everyday objects and thoughtful gifts.
