The Collection Taking Shape (and a Design I’d Forgotten About)

There’s a particular kind of light on the Kenyan coast—soft, hazy, and full of warmth. It’s the kind that settles into your memory without you realising, and stays there long after you’ve left.

Lately, I’ve found myself returning to it as I design my next collection…

It’s in the faded blues and jade greens of the ocean, the warmth of the fine white sand, the silent dhows gliding in and out of view, the carved wooden doors, and the way everything feels gently sun-washed and lived in. That sense of relaxed beauty has been sitting quietly in my mind for a long time, and now, it’s finally finding its way into my next collection.

Right now, I’m in the final stages of designing my cushion covers, and it feels like everything is starting to come together.

This collection will be made up mostly of cotton and linen cushions, natural, breathable fabrics that feel right at home in both relaxed coastal spaces and British interiors. Alongside them, I’m introducing one or two richer velvet pieces to add depth and contrast, those finishing touches that make a room feel layered and considered.

The patterns themselves are inspired by the details I fell in love with on the coast: soft stripes, sun-bleached tones, and designs that feel slightly imperfect in the best possible way. Pieces that look like they’ve been collected over time, rather than chosen all at once.

While I’ve been working on these, something else exciting has been happening behind the scenes,my bone mugs are officially in production as I write this. Eeek, it's a pinch me moment!  I honestly can’t wait to have them in my hands. There’s something very special about seeing an idea become something tangible.

Wylder Fair Flyer

They’ll be launching at Wylder Fair in Somerset on 20th & 21st May, which feels like the perfect place to introduce them (and soon, the cushions too).

If you’re someone who loves creating a home that feels layered, personal, and a little bit different, I’d love you to follow along as this collection comes to life. There’s so much more to share over the coming weeks.

And if you want first access to the collection (and a few behind-the-scenes glimpses along the way), make sure you’re signed up to my newsletter.

A little piece of Kitito (that I don’t talk about nearly enough)

As I’ve been designing the new cushion collection, it’s made me realise there’s something I’ve been quietly neglecting…

Our Kitito cushions.

They’ve actually been part of the collection for a while now, but somehow, I’ve never properly shared them, which feels strange, because the design itself means so much to me.

If you already know and love our Kitito wallpaper, you’ll recognise the pattern instantly. It was the very first design I ever created, inspired by the garden we called home in Kenya—a place filled with tangled vines, soft evening light, and the wonderfully mischievous mousebirds that never failed to make me smile.

Bringing that design onto cushions felt like the most natural extension, but I think I’ve been so focused on what’s next, I haven’t paused to appreciate what’s already here.

They’re made from a soft linen-cotton blend, with that gently relaxed texture I always come back to and finished with sage green piping to frame the pattern.

They’re easy, versatile pieces, the kind that work just as well layered into a neutral sofa as they do adding a bit of personality to a bedroom or reading corner.

A small piece of the story that started it all, and one I think deserves a little more attention.

Cushion Styling Tip

Want that plump, designer look for your cushions? Here’s the secret: always size up your cushion inner.

Avoid that limp, deflated look, never buy an insert that’s the same size as your cushion cover.

For that full, luxurious finish, choose a feather inner that’s 2–5cm larger than the cover. It makes all the difference transforming your cushions from slightly sad to irresistibly squishy.

And if you’re a fan of the “cushion chop” (I know it divides opinion!), a fuller inner gives you that perfect chop every time.

If you’d like to see exactly what I mean, I’ve shared a quick video over on Instagram showing the difference this simple trick makes—it’s one of those small details that completely transforms the look of a cushion.

I can’t wait to share more with you soon.
